Density perturbations in generalized Einstein scenarios and constraints on nonminimal couplings from the Cosmic Microwave Background

چکیده
We study cosmological perturbations in generalized Einstein scenarios and show the equivalence of inflationary observables both in the Jordan frame and the Einstein frame. In particular the consistency relation relating the tensor-to-scalar ratio with the spectral index of tensor perturbations coincides with the one in Einstein gravity, which leads to the same likelihood results in terms of inflationary observables. We apply this formalism to nonminimally coupled chaotic inflationary scenarios with potential V = cφ and place constraints on the strength of nonminimal couplings using a compilation of latest observational data. In the case of the quadratic potential (p = 2), the nonminimal coupling is constrained to be ξ > −7.0× 10 for negative ξ from the 1σ observational contour bound. Although the quartic potential (p = 4) is under a strong observational pressure for ξ = 0, this property is relaxed by taking into account negative nonminimal couplings. We find that inflationary observables are within the 1σ contour bound as long as ξ < −1.7× 10. We also show that the p ≥ 6 cases are disfavoured even in the presence of nonminimal couplings.

Multifield inflation after Planck: the case for nonminimal couplings.
Multifield models of inflation with nonminimal couplings are in excellent agreement with the recent results from Planck. Across a broad range of couplings and initial conditions, such models evolve along an effectively single-field attractor solution and predict values of the primordial spectral index and its running, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, and non-Gaussianities squarely in the observation...
متن کاملComplete constraints on a nonminimally coupled chaotic inflationary scenario from the cosmic microwave background
In spite of its many successes, the standard big-bang theory has faced serious problems, namely, the horizon, flatness, and monopole problems. In the beginning of the 1980s, an epoch-making idea called the inflationary scenario was advocated to solve these cosmological puzzles [1,2]. Later it was recognized that the concept gives us not only a solution to such puzzles, but also to the origin of...
متن کاملNon-Gaussianity and large-scale structure in a two-field inflationary model
Single-field inflationary models predict nearly Gaussian initial conditions, and hence a detection of non-Gaussianity would be a signature of the more complex inflationary scenarios. In this paper we study the effect on the cosmic microwave background and on large-scale structure from primordial nonGaussianity in a two-field inflationary model in which both the inflaton and curvaton contribute ...
متن کاملConstraints on Scalar-tensor Theories of Gravity from Density Perturbations in Innationary Cosmology
Spectra of density perturbations produced during chaotic innation in scalar-tensor theories of gravity are calculated, taking both adiabatic and isocurva-ture modes into account. Comparing the predicted spectrum of the cosmic microwave background radiation anisotropies with the one observed by the COBE-DMR we calculate constraints on the parameters of these theories, which turn out to be strong...

Recent experimental determinations of the spectral index describing the scalar mode spectrum of density perturbations encourage comparison with predictions from models of the very early universe. Unlike extended inflation, Induced-gravity Inflation predicts a power spectrum with 0.98 ≤ ns ≤ 1.00, in close agreement with the experimental measurements.
